Cheapest House In Nz Sells For $130,000

Posted by Impression on 30, Dec 2021

A two-bedroom house in Waverley, South Taranaki, went on the market in late 2021 for just $89,000, and has since sold for $130,000.

Despite its dilapidated state, it sold in only 20 days with multiple offers. Alongside the rock-bottom price, the 665km2 section seems to be the main attraction.

Although it’s rare to find a house for sale in New Zealand for under $200,000, there are still some good deals to be found across the country. New builds, in particular, are much better value than they’ve ever been because they get special tax and lending treatments. They have a 20-year exemption from the bright-line test, lower maintenance costs, lower running costs and exemption from both LVRs and the new tax deductibility limitations.

In Auckland, our sales team gets the early tips on off-the-plan apartments that can be purchased at excellent prices – in a rising market, by the time it comes to settlement, buyers can already have equity built into their investment. There are still risks involved, including the risks of a falling market; always talk to your financial advisor about the pros and cons of any investment strategy.
