Will Chinese Investors Be Buying Property For Christmas?

Posted by Impression on 19, Dec 2017

This could be the month we see a flood of Chinese buyers in the Auckland market – some of whom will be looking for low-maintenance central city apartments. Chinese property website Juwai is giving Kiwi properties a push in advance of the new Government’s foreign buyer crackdown. The legislation is scheduled to be introduced before the end of this year, with the new restrictions taking effect in early 2018.

Jane Lu, head of Australia and New Zealand for Juwai.com, told the media she expects to see Chinese buyers acting quickly to get in ahead of the change: "We saw the same thing happen in Vancouver, Melbourne and Sydney when new taxes and restrictions were introduced. One premium buyer in Sydney closed his transaction 15 minutes to midnight before the new regime kicked in."

If you’ve been thinking about selling any of your apartments, this could be the time to get your property on the market. Impression has a team of experienced professionals that includes a wide range of languages and cultures. For a free consultation, please email sales@impression.co.nz
